Thank you for investing in real news and the training of investigative journalists in Wisconsin!
Your generosity strengthens our democracy.
A total of 168 donors, including 96 first-time supporters, stepped up to help the Center reach its $25,000 goal in the Knight Foundation’s News Match in early 2017, two weeks before the deadline. We’ll work tirelessly to live up to your expectations, to keep you informed and to strengthen our democracy while being guided by our values: Protect the vulnerable. Expose wrongdoing. Seek solutions.
The Center has a $500,000 operating budget, four full-time employees, four to six paid interns and skilled volunteers whose investigative reports are shared for free on WisconsinWatch.org and through hundreds of other news organizations.
We welcome your sustaining gifts!

The WCIJ Education Fund supports our internship program, an integral part of the Center’s award-winning collaboration with the UW-Madison School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Each internship costs about $25,000 a year to cover the intern’s pay, travel and research expenses plus supervision, editing, fact-checking, legal services, publication, marketing and distribution of news reports to news organizations across the state and nation.
